Down-to-earth aspiring writer "April" (series regular) is played by Emily Hardy, the writer, creator and co-producer of Broke as a Joke.
Emily comes from San Luis Obispo, California - the daughter of a
classical musician and a writer. With the mind of a woman and the
heart of a girl, she is bold but light-hearted.
She came to Los Angeles to study at the
American Academy of Dramatic Arts after attending the CalArts
summer program while still in high school. She graduated with AADA's
prestigious Michael Thoma award, and jumped right into acting work in film, television and commercials. She now studies at Steppenwolf
West and Sam Christensen Studios.
Her credits include her leading role in Unified Pictures' upcoming feature film XII, her supporting role in Hallmark's Though None Go With Me, and her guest spot on Navy N.C.I.S. She is also an alumna of the nationwide show Comedy Sportz and creator of the stage show Skin Deep,
a collection of original pieces written and performed by women about
the search for beauty and self-esteem.
